Day of German Unity (Germany)

The Day of German Unity commemorates German reunification in 1990 as the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic, forming a single German state. This national event is celebrated as a public holiday, where citizens abstain from work for the day. A ceremonial act and festival with fireworks are often held, hosted by the major German cities such as Potsdam, Kiel, Berlin, Mainz, Dresden, and Frankfurt.
