Day of Arafah
Also called ‘Day of Arafat’, this is an Islamic holy day that falls on the ninth day of Dhu al Hijjah. It is the holiest day of the Islamic Calendar and second day of the Hajj pilgrimage. The pilgrims arrive at Arafat, 20 kms east of Mecca, where they will stand in a contemplative vigil, offer supplications, repent, atone for their sins and listen to sermons. The date of this day differs slightly from country to country.
