Constitution Day (Palau)

A national public holiday in the western Pacific island nation of Palau, this day commemorates Palau’s 1981 adoption of its constitution and creation of its government after it broke away from the United States’ administered Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. Celebrations are held throughout the country, with the major public events taking place in Ngerulmud and Koror.
