    Burkina Faso Independence Day

Burkina Faso Independence Day is celebrated on August 5th every year and is a public holiday in Burkina Faso. This day commemorates the country’s full independence from France on August 5th, 1960. The day is marked with parades, cultural events, and communal meals that include traditional dishes such as Sauce Gumbo and Ragout Dl’gname. The country’s first president, Maurice Yameogo, led the country to independence, and in 1984, Upper Volta was renamed Burkina Faso, which means “Land of Incorruptible People”. The day is an opportunity for the people of Burkina Faso to celebrate their cultural heritage and national identity.
