Blood Cancer Awareness Month
Created by the Leukemia Foundation and observed in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the US and the UK, the purpose of this month is to share information to the public about blood cancer, raise awareness of the prevalence of this worldwide problem and emphasise the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. Leukemia is the second most diagnosed cancer in Australia but awareness of it remains low. The survival chance of people with blood cancer is greatly increased when they are diagnosed and treated as early as possible. So, September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month in the hopes of greatly reducing the impact of this disease.
