Since 2001, Australian Citizenship Day has been celebrated annually as an opportunity to hold special citizenship ceremonies for new citizens, welcome them into the community, and to take pride in citizenship. It is an opportunity for all Australians, but especially those who are taking the oath for the first time, to celebrate Australia’s democratic values and think about the ideals that unite Australians.
