Ashadha Purnima Vrat
A Hindu holy day, Ashadha Purnima means Full Moon Day. Devotees worship Lord Vishnu and observe Gopadam vrat (fasting). The day also celebrates the birthday of Vyasa, revered sage and purported author of Sanskrit epic the Mahabharata. It is also believed that on this day in 528 BCE the Buddha gave his first sermon at Samath. Followers offer special devotions and seek blessings from their guru.
