A national public holiday in Liberia, this day commemorates all soldiers who have performed heroic duties in the service of Liberia. It marks a 1909 event when the first militia regiment of Liberia repelled an attempt at mutiny by Major McKay Cadell, who was at the time the first commandant of the Liberian Frontier Force.
