Archbishop Janani Luwum Memorial Day (Uganda)
A national public holiday that commemorates the life and legacy of Archbishop Janani Luwum (c. 1922–1977), who is widely believed to have been murdered on 17 Febrary 1977 on the orders of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. Archbishop Luwum was a prominent religious leader in Uganda and champion of human rights and social justice, known for his commitment to nonviolence and efforts to promote reconciliation and peace.
