Secularism – Secularist
Secularists reject any interaction between politics and religion. Secularists usually believe science is the most reliable source of knowledge, though many secularists also adhere to a religion. This worldview overlaps with Humanism, Freethought, Agnosticism, Atheism, No Religion and Rationalism. The term ‘secularism’ was coined by English secularist and newspaper editor George Jacob Holyoake (1817–1906), who was jailed for six months as one of the last people convicted for blasphemy in a public lecture.
