Nature religions is a generic category encompassing every worldview that centres nature and holds the natural world sacred. Most people holding these worldviews would not identify their worldview as ‘a nature religion’. The term encompasses Indigenous, pagan and neopagan worldviews as well as many New Age and counter-culture worldviews that involve a return to nature as spiritual quest. This worldview is usually animist.
